Going to make a Vacation out of it?

Extend your vacation to not only include the rocket launch, but the wonderful scenery and attractions around the area. Southern Alberta and surrounding area is home to some of the worlds most beautiful scenery and designated parks.

If you like the Rocky Mountains, foothills, vast wide open plains, or the big cities, you name it we got it. While the launch area is mostly open prairie, the ranch land and mountains are only 150km away.

Waterton Lakes National Park Close by (1 hr drive) is Waterton Lakes National Park. This park has a hiker shuttle service to trail heads as well as boat cruises, canoeing, golf and horseback riding. That just scratch's the surface. Visit the web site for a lot more info on this wonderful place.

Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park Writing-on-stone park was designated an Archaeological Preserve to protect the largest concentration of rock art, created by Plains People, on the Great Plains of North America. There are over 50 rock art sites, with thousands of figures, as well as numerous archeological sites.

The park has a reconstructed North-West Mounted Police Post located on its original site. It is one of the largest areas of protected prairie in the Alberta Parks System, and includes significant coulee environments and prairie wildlife habitats. Plus it's really close to the launch site!

Dinosaur Provincial Park To the north lies Dinosaur Provincial Park. The park was designated a World Heritage Site in 1979 by the United Nations in recognition of three significant features:

  • the badlands, a terrain unique unto itself
  • the endangered riparian (riverside) habitat with its towering plains cottonwoods
  • as well as one of the highest concentrations of palaeontological resources with the fossils of the late Cretaceous period

Glacier National Park The park encompasses approximately 1.4 million acres of wilderness and some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in the western United States. A combination of spectacular scenery, diverse flora and fauna, and relative isolation from major population centers have combined to make Glacier National Park the center of one of the largest and most intact ecosystems in North America.

Yellowstone National Park Yellowstone National Park is a favorite to millions of visitors each year. Yellowstone is the flagship of the National Park Service. Since the first explorers began documenting their discoveries to modern day, the features of Yellowstone National Park have virtually remained the same.
